What qualifications do I have to have to join the department? Answer: No qualifications are required. You must be at least 18 years of age (unless application is for a junior firefighter which you must be at least 15) . We prefer a person with a background in EMS or Fire, but if a person is willing to train to become a Firefighter/ First Responder, we will make every effort to train them to that level.

Can I call the fire department if  I have fallen and need help but do not want to go to the hospital? Answer: Yes. We refer to that type of non-emergency call as a citizen assist. We will provide assistance to citizens that have fallen and need help up but do not need an ambulance.

How much does it cost when you are called to my home? Answer: Our services are free of charge to the citizens of the district. The reason being is that our district is funded by a tax, based on the assessed value of your property.

What is a patient refusal form? Answer: A patient refusal form is a form that is filled out by a patient of a medical emergency that is refusing any further medical care by the Gordonville Fire Protection District or refusing to be transported to the hospital by ambulance. This in no way implies that if you have an emergency again an hour later, that you can not call us back. We will be glad to provide you with assistance again.

How many calls do you respond to per year? Answer: Last year we responded to 194 calls.

Do you give fire safety presentations? Answer: Yes. If anyone would like to schedule a presentation, please notify us.

Why do I see a fire truck with lights and sirens on and they suddenly shut them off? Answer: Sometimes an emergency comes through the dispatch center worse than it sounds. Our district responds to emergency calls in our personal vehicles and fire trucks using lights and sirens until a firefighter at the scene realizes we will not need all of the resources responding. Once the resources are cancelled, the trucks turn their lights and sirens off and return to the station in case another call comes in.
